Owner

Erste Private Banking is part of Erste Group. Founded in 1819 as the first Austrian savings bank, Erste Group went public in 1997 with a strategy to expand its retail business into Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Since then Erste Group has grown through numerous acquisitions and organic growth to one of the largest financial services providers in the eastern part of EU.

Besides the traditional strength in serving private individuals, Erste Group's core activities include support for corporate clients in financing, investment and access to international capital markets, public sector funding and interbank market operations.

ERSTE Foundation

The ERSTE Foundation is the main shareholder of Erste Group Bank AG. ERSTE Foundation invests its dividend revenue in the development of societies in Austria and in Central and South-Eastern Europe. In keeping with the non-profit Sparkassen principle of providing a benefit to the public, it promotes social
inclusion and an active commitment to civil society.

As an active foundation, it draws up and oversees its own cross-border projects, which fall under one of the three programmes Social Development, Culture and Europe:

  • Social Development
The Foundation encourages the development of fairer and stronger societies, where nobody is left behind.
  • Culture
The Foundation’s cultural programme focusses on the visual arts from around 1960 to the present day. Its work is transnational in nature, as culture is taken to be a driving force of democratic societies and a builder of bridges in a region which, after the political upheaval and violent conflicts it has experienced, is demonstrating a tendency to fragment, both linguistically and politically speaking.
  • Europe
The Foundation promotes the process of European integration by providing an international platform for exchanging ideas, knowledge and initiatives. The projects in this programme are characterised by their emphasis on common European values, cooperation and learning from one another.
